Everyone is invited to the FIREMAN'S COMPETITION at Winfield. The event will be held on Saturday, May 24th 2008 at the Winfield Fire Hall. Competitions start at 1 :00 pm sharp.
    
The APPALACHIAN DUMPLING FESTIVAL will also be taking place so come early for plenty of food and entertainment.

The Fireman's Competition will include the following events:
    

1. Efficiency:
    

A. Participants shall connect 50' of 1.5" hose to hydrant.

B. Nozzle man must be behind line before spraying water.

C. There will be five buckets 50' from the line, all buckets must be knocked out of box, and time will stop.

D. A two man team.

E. Will be a single donut roll only.
    

2. Broken Hose:
    

A. 100' Pre-connected line 1.5" with nozzle.

B. Upon signal, participants must shut off water, disconnect middle coupling, unroll 50' of 1.5" line and connect line.

C. Recharge line and spray water. At which time, time will stop.

D. Nozzle man must maintain contact with nozzle while line is charged.

E. Lost control of like will result in disqualification.

F. A two man team.
    

3. Barrel Fill:
    

A. Participants will connect a 50' section of 1.5" line to hydrant and nozzle.

B. Nozzle man must position himself in a 5' x 5' square before spraying water.

C. Nozzle man must spray in square until time is stopped.Loss of position is square will result in disqualification.

D. A three man team - Nozzle man, spotter and nozzle back-up man.

E. A two minute time limit.
    

4. Hose Roll Relay
    

A. A four man team.

B. Four sections of 2.5 hose.

C. Each hose allowed one fold to begin.

D. Next man in relay starts when previous man crosses line.

E. No loose dangling coupling (penalty, if coupling causes a fall, this will constitute disqualification).

F. All hose must be inside box at a conclusion (including coupling).

G. Time stops when last hose is properly placed in box.

H. A five second penalty for any early start.
    

5. Three Man ladder:
    

A. Three Man team.

B. Ladder secure to platform prior to event.

C. One man 50', one 75' and one 100' from platform.

D. Participants must wear fire boots.

E. Whistle to start.

F. Three men run for ladder, but cannot pass each other.

G. Second man cannot touch ladder, until the first man has cleared the top rung of the ladder onto-platform.

H. Finish when third man touches top rung of ladder.

I. Penalties - Early starts and touch ladder to soon.
    

6. Bucket Brigade:

A. A five man team.

B. Barrel will be on top of scaffold (12').

C. 14' straight ladder.

D. No more than two men on the ladder. Leg lock must be used.

E. Drop tank will be 12' from scaffold.

F. One minute time limit.

G. Equipment needed: helmets for ground crew.
    

7. Full Dress:
    

A. One man per team.

B. Firefighter must be entry ready, a two second penalty for any and all improperly donned equipment, (each button, zipper, etc.).

C. All equipment sized to fit contestant. No pre-buttoned, pre- hooked, pre-zipped, or etc ..

D. Equipment needed: pants, coat, boots, helmet, gloves, hood and air pack.
    

8. Tug-o-war:
    

A. 10 person team.

B. Pull until your the last team.

C. Bracket type elimination.
    

Scoring System
    

1st - 4 points

2nd - 3 points

3rd - 2 points

4th - 1 point
